Thanks to everybody that participated in the track upgrade this weekend. The hard work of many people minimized our down time, and has given 5280 a brand new subfloor and carpet to race on!
Big news from 5280 Raceway, we're making some much-needed updates to the track.
First, we have ordered BRAND NEW "HD" carpet from CRC which will be going down soon. Also, we will be shimming and reinforcing our existing subfloor to remove as much movement as possible, make sure it's extremely sturdy and solid, as well as pool table smooth.
5280 Raceway has accomplished what nobody else has been able to do: live streaming practicing laps. Going forward, all laps at 5280 are logged and displayed on our website in real-time!

The 2014 Mile High Indoor Champs was a HUGE success. We had 94 racers spread across 187 entries in by far our biggest event yet, and everything went perfect.
For lots of pictures, check out our Facebook page and our photo album. Thanks to all the club members for helping out and making sure things were as smooth as possible, and all the racers who traveled from around North America to attend the event.
Full results for the event can be found here.
Congratulations to 5280 racer Kyle Klingforth for finishing #1 in 17.5 sedan, the most competitive class at the 2014 ROAR Carpet Nationals!!! Pictured here with his dad Brent who finished 2nd right behind his 16 year old son Kyle.
5280 Raceway, where champions are born!
It's been a great year for on-road RC racing in Colorado! Thanks to all the members and racers for your continued support. Interest is higher than it's ever been, and continues to grow. We're all looking forward to a very exciting year of racing in 2014!
Remember, we will be having our normal club race on 12/26/14. A few people are planning to spend the whole day at the track, so if you want to get some track time, check our forum for more details and head down early!
Did you know we take full video of our club races and post them online the next day? If you check the results page, you'll see a video link next to each race date. The videos are one continuous stream (4-5 hours usually), but if you look at the description on the video's YouTube page, there will be clickable links to the times in the video where you can view specific races.
Here's the video for our race on Sunday, 12/22.
Thanks to everybody that came to the track tonight and installed a replica of the layout from the Snowbird Nationals. This iconic layout is run counterclockwise, the opposite direction of layouts you typically see on US style tracks. It's also featured in the RC simulator, Virtual RC. This layout will be in place until the end of January before we make what's likely to be our final track change leading up to MHIC.
The 10/31 Thursday club race has been rescheduled to Tuesday, 10/29 due to Halloween. There may be a few people out Thursday to practice if you're interested in joining them. Check our forum for more details on availability.
